Academy

Each year we send our newest officers to the Public Safety Training Center for the New York State Peace Officer Course.

The Peace Officer course is 170 hours. The Schedule is 13 weeks 3 times a week. Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6:00pm to 10:pm and 8 hours on Saturday from 8:00am to 4:00 pm.  The training topics include Criminal Procedure Law, Penal Law, report writing, Interview, and interrogation. As well as Defensive Tactics and other current topics.

The Academy is mandatory and when you graduate you will be a certified NYS Peace Officer while on duty with the Greece Special Police Unit.   This is the most vigorous portion and time-consuming portion of joining the Special Police Unit.

At the end of the Academy, there will be a graduation ceremony.
